Congratulations to six of our students for being recognized as finalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program.

The six are Maden Herve, Alexander Koutsoukos, Vignesh Subramanian, Ashleigh Coltman, Rishabh Raniwala and Jeffrey Huang.

The mission of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is to recognize and honor the academically talented students of the United States. NMSC accomplishes its mission by conducting nationwide academic scholarship programs. The enduring goals of NMSC's scholarship programs are:

  • To promote a wider and deeper respect for learning in general and for exceptionally talented individuals in particular
  • To shine a spotlight on brilliant students and encourage the pursuit of academic excellence at all levels of education
  • To stimulate increased support from organizations that wish to sponsor scholarships for outstanding scholastic talent

More than 15,000 Finalists have been identified across the country from the 16,000 students who were named as Semifinalists in September 2019. To become a Finalist, a Semifinalist must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes evidence of an academic record of very high performance, endorsement by the school principal, SAT scores that confirm the student’s earlier qualifying test performance, a self-descriptive essay and evidence of the student’s participation and leadership in school and community activities.

These students are now eligible for National Merit Scholarship recognition. Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarship Winners will be announced on April 22, 2020; National Merit $2500 Scholarship Winners will be announced on May 13, 2020 and College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship Winners will be announced on June 3, 2020.
