The Library Learning Commons

Students using apps on ipads

Second Grade students collaborate at a small table with several iPads running the OSMO App.

We think of our library learning commons as the hub of Miller-Driscoll Elementary School. Named officially for a former principal, the Helen Comstock Martin Library is open every day for students and teachers from 8:30-3:30. All students meet with our library teachers twice a week for a thirty minute class, but are welcome from 8:45-9:15 for early morning book exchange.

Our vision is to provide our students with a warm and nurturing environment that encourages literature appreciation and lifelong learning. Our curriculum exposes your children to a wide range of literary genre, exemplar authors and illustrators, responsible use of all materials, and introductions to basic online resources. We also work collaboratively with our teachers to teach information literacy skills and prepare our students for future learning experiences.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you go."
