About Cider Mill School

Each house within Cider Mill School incorporates Wilton’s rich history since each of our houses are named after historical schoolhouses once found in Wilton—Kent and Belden HIll comprise our South House, while Cannondale and Nod Hill make-up our North House. Students may move flexibly between the two houses within the North or South side, creating a smaller, student-centered school community where students are encouraged to create, collaborate, think critically, and build the skills necessary to reach their fullest potential; now and in the future. Within each house, students and staff build a sense of belonging and positive school spirit. Throughout the school year, students and staff work hard to exemplify our 3 Rs - and show they are Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn

The center of Cider Mill holds our shared resources such as the main office, nurses’ office, guidance offices, music rooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, the stage, science laboratories, library learning commons and the cafeteria. Our cafeteria features a full kitchen and two service lines to ensure that students quickly settle down to their healthy lunch. The stage is equipped with full lighting and sound systems which allows for exciting performances by our students and staff as well as various enrichment programs supported by the PTA.

For the 2023-24 School year, Cider Mill will run on a 5-day student schedule. Mondays are a rotating day, Tuesdays are always a Day 1, Wednesdays are a Day 2, Thursdays are a Day 3, and Fridays are a Day 4.  Mondays will offer a rotating schedule through the 4 days over the course of the school year.  As an example, the first week of school would look like this: 1, 1, 2, 3, 4-where Monday and Tuesday are a Day 1, Wednesday a Day 2, Thursday a Day 3 and Friday a Day 4.  The next week would look like this:  2, 1, 2, 3, 4-with Monday of that week being a Day 2.  If a holiday or Professional Development day occurs on a Monday and students are not in school, that day number would be skipped and occur the next Monday of the month.  Within that 5 day schedule students will have one P.E. class, one Art class,  one Music class and one Library (LLC) class from Tuesday to Friday. Monday will see students have a second special class that week depending on the rotation schedule mentioned above. If your child participates in a World Language class, these will occur every other day.

Different grades have different schedules. Your child’s teacher will share the daily schedule with you during back to school night. A typical day for your child may be:
