Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:

On behalf of our Board of Education and the entire staff of the Wilton Public Schools, welcome to the 2026-2027 school year. We hope you have found the summer months restorative and are excited to re-engage with your children as we launch the new school year. It’s our goal to ensure that all of your children are known, loved and cared for while receiving a world class education from our world class teachers.

The amount of information shared at the start of the school year can feel overwhelming. To make it easier for families to find what they need, we have redesigned our 2026–2027 Student and Family Handbook. Rather than a PDF divided into sections, the handbook is now a web-based resource that provides direct access to the information families use most throughout the school year. The new format makes it easier to quickly locate important resources, forms, and district information from any device. The handbook includes essential back-to-school information such as Meet the Teacher, Open House, and Parent Portal details. It also provides quick access to the 2026–2027 District Calendar (including the Class of 2027 Graduation date), the 2027–2028 District Calendar, PowerSchool, Schoology, weather and school closing information, and Student Rights and Responsibilities. Everything previously found in the PDF handbook is now organized in a more accessible, user-friendly format.

As you prepare for the start of the school year, please note these important dates:
  • Wednesday, August 19: Parent Portal opens
  • Friday, August 21: Meet the Teacher (PreK-8)
  • Monday, August 24: Freshman & New Student Orientation
Beginning Wednesday, August 19, all parents and guardians are asked to log into PowerSchool to review and/or update demographic and emergency contact information and complete all required permission agreements and Digital Learning forms as part of the district's required back-to-school registration process.

  • For families of students in Grades 3–8, parents and guardians must also indicate whether they wish to accept or decline Chromebook insurance. Students in Grades 3–8 will not receive a Chromebook until all required forms have been completed and an insurance decision has been recorded.
While there is a great deal of information available, we've worked to make it easy to find what you need when you need it. I encourage you to bookmark the handbook and refer to it throughout the year, as it will serve as a central resource for district information, important dates, policies, and family resources. A copy of the Student and Family Handbook will also be available on the Superintendent's Page of the Wilton Public Schools website for easy access at any time.

I strongly encourage you to take some time to explore the handbook before the first day of school and refer back to it throughout the year. Staying informed is one of the best ways we can work together to support a successful school experience for every student.

We look forward to a tremendous school year and celebrating with you the many accomplishments your children will enjoy this year.  Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact my assistant, Lucille DeNovio at 203.762.3381 extension 8318 or denoviol@wiltonps.org.

Sincerely,Kevin J. Smith, Ph.D.
